France made the solar panels on the road, this is the best innovation

Solar panel on the road

Tourouvre-au-Perche Village in Normandy, France are the solar panels along one kilometer and was opened yesterday by the French Ecology Minister Ségolène Royal.Solar panels can generate enough electricity to light a street lamp.

That may not sound very impressive to 30,000 square feet of solar panels - and kind of not, especially for the $ 5.2 million price tag. The panel has been covered in a silicone-based resin that allows them to withstand the weight of passing big rig, and if the road performing as expected, Royal would like to see solar panels installed on the 1,000 kilometers of highways of France.

There are a lot of problems, however. For one, flat solar panels is less effective than sloping panels installed on the roof, and they are also massively more expensive than traditional panels. Colas, the company that installed the road, hoping to reduce the cost of advanced panel and has about 100 solar road panel projects underway around the world.

Solar street is another company looking at building roads with solar panels, and it was installed a small number of panels on Route 66 Welcome Center in Conway, Missouri earlier this year. However, they face the same cost issues seem insurmountable with Colas and France.Maybe they are a solar roof of the Tesla is a better way to go after all.
